This event at the South of England Showground, Ardingly, W Sussex is set in 150 acres and includes interactive living history displays spanning 2000 years of military history. There will be military vehicles, authors, wargamers and model makers, live music and marching bands, a couple of bars, interactive activities and plenty of food and drink. Guns, tanks, canons, stormtroopers and maybe a tauntaun and wookie or two, oh and Vikings. It will be the first time The Vikings join this regular cross-period festival of history in the beautiful Sussex countryside. See the show web site for full details. Set up times can be from noon Thursday to 8.30pm; Friday 10am - 8.30pm. Show is on the Saturday and Sunday. Day trippers can enter Saturday 7.30am - 9.30 am, or return to site Sunday 7.30 am - 9.30. You may stay on site until noon on Monday if you wish. Show opens to public at 10am. Closes at 5pm. ALL Vehicle owners to note that there will be absolutely NO vehicle movement on site during the show from 10am until 5pm. Please you must book in with us if you are thinking about coming and tell us precisely when you will be attending. Vehicle passes will be issued on arrival and must be registered with the client in advance. There is NO entry to the showground without a pass. Wristbands will be issued at booking in and only those registered will receive one. We may have limited space with so many other groups and periods attending. Site map available. Living history area, arena for combat, several water points, all plumbed in proper toilets and showers; separated plastic camping in the top field by the shower block but limited van/caravan hard standing. Pets (dogs) welcome but must be kept on a lead at all times (showground rules) and do be mindful there could be bangs. Above ground fires allowed - firewood provided for displays but no BBQs. Exhibitors must have their stands and immediately adjoining avenues cleaned up at the close of the Show daily. Any litter and refuse must be stacked and ready for collection by the Battles Through History’ contractors. We hope this can become a regular event, but please if Vikings want to go riding on tanks and jeeps, or battle stormtroopers on a tauntaun please do take every care. No disintegrations.
