Event Details

Blaeddau Du has been approached by Dr Thomas Husøy-Ciaccia, he is the Historian and Outreach Officer of the Norwegian Church Arts Centre https://www.norwegianchurchcardiff.com/ We have been asked to support an Exhibition of how 'The Legacy of the Norse period is still alive in Wales'. The exhibition will run from Easter Weekend to 17th May.. He will have various aspects of Norse influence on show and has asked other groups to support this too, such as Welsh Heathen Group, University of Oslo on 'The making of a Warrior' and also modern re-enactment in Wales plus other things. The exhibition is not focused around the raiding and battle side of the Norse period but more around the culture and the crafts. The exhibition is made up of displays such as posters, information panels, pictures and items displayed in locked display cabinets - there will be people representing each separate part of the exhibition. He has asked Blaeddau Du if they can lend examples of craft items such as tablet weave, nalbinding, woodwork, leatherwork, etc. including the period tools to carry out these crafts. He has also asked for photos of re-enactors carrying out these crafts at shows which he will put onto posters that will be displayed in the area dedicated to Norse re-enactment. He has also asked if at some of the weekends (this date) there might be one or two members of Blaeddau Du carrying out the crafts for the public to see. The exhibition will be open from 10.30 to 1600 in the week and maybe open slightly longer at weekends. Anything lent by Blaeddau Du will be insured under the Church's insurance. The agreed fee is £300 for the loan of the display items and photos plus £150 per event (total of 4)
