Event Details
Come and see The Vikings at this spectacular event. In 869/870 a bloody battle was fought near Threekingham, between the Saxons (led by the earls Algar, Morcar and Leofric) and the invading Danes, during which 3 Danish kings and many of their followers were slain. The Vikings will recreate this epic encounter this September. Come and watch the Saxons defend their homeland, study the weapons and clothing of the period and walk through the tented encampment of the invading army. There will be craftworkers, artisans and cooks you can watch, question and learn from. Ask to try on a helmet or wear a maille shirt. And your little Vikings can train to join the Viking shieldwall.
